Badgers Class 2019-2020
British Science Week
In Badgers class we have looked at how our bodies are different to everyone else in our class. We drew self-portraits and the measured and annotated our pictures.
We then experimented to see how many fungiform papillae we had on our tongue. This either made us a non-taster, taster or supertaster! We had a range of different results after our experiment.
Step aside Bill Nye the Science Guy!
We have enjoyed using the knowledge we have gained about sound to create our own science programmes. We tried to include as much scientific language as we could.
World Book Day 2020
World Book Day has taken up most of our English lessons this week by focusing on The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We realised that we still loved the book, but we needed to adapt the story in order for older children to want to read it again. Therefore the children edited the story by changing and adding characters, as well as up-leveling the writing used.
During World Book Day we have created art work for the front cover of our stories, caterpillar bookmarks and in the afternoon we have made edible caterpillars, as well as designed packaging to take them home in.
Mummy madness in Badgers Class
Today we have been learning about the process of mummification. We have learnt the different steps, as well as all the bits that would be pulled out of our bodies. We found out that it takes 70 days to make a proper mummy, however we only had 70 seconds!
We have designed our own canopic jars using the different Egyptian gods. These are our prototypes to allow us to see what has worked and what hasn't worked. Some of us found it difficult to create the jar shape, but we didn't give up and we tried really hard to create the god head we were aiming for.
Works of Art meet technology.
During our ICT lessons this half term we have been looking at replicating different artists work using the laptops. By using Paint we have realised all the different ways it can be used. From shading to pointillism. What do you think of our art work below?
Emotional wellbeing in Badger's class.
Today we we have been thinking about how it is ok to show our emotions as long as we deal with them properly.
We have a feelings barometer in our class that show how we are feeling throughout the day. It also enables an adult to see how we are feeling without us always having to say it.
In our lesson we had to put together a jigsaw puzzle and then draw it out again.
Our topic this half term is: 'Living in a material world!' Keep checking back for all the exciting things we've been getting up to.
Badgers Class 2018
What great measuring homework!
As part of this weeks homework all the children were asked to measure different items at home. It's great to see that Noah has uploaded these to Tapestry, so we can see what he's been getting up to!
The Roman army is coming!
We have a great day today learning about the Roman army. We have created our own shields, learnt about the army, written a job application and finished the day off with our own battle!
There's a Rang Tan in my bedroom
As part of our WWF fundraising day we learnt all about the orangutan. We watched an amazing WWF video about them and went on a fact hunt around the classroom.
We then wrote letters to the Prime Minister to get her to help orangutans all over the world. Let's see if we get a response.
Amazing stop art animation
In our ICT lessons we have been creating a stop art animation about the story of Guy Fawkes. Eva has gone home and created her own stop art animation about the story of The Highwayman.
Making a mosque
In RE we have been learning about Islam. Did you know the place where they go to pray is called a mosque?
We have learnt lots of facts about why mosques are so special. At the end of the lesson we had 3D mosques.
In Literacy we have been reading The Highwayman. We have learnt all about monologues and have even written one for Tim the Ostler. Our favourite part was creating our own life size highwaymen for the character description at the start of the poem.
3 times table song
Badgers have been learning the actions and words to go along with Professor Pipette in learning their 3 times tables. Can you sing along with the song?
