Squirrels

14/07/16 - We have enjoyed two visits to the forest so far and are looking forward to the next one on Monday. We played hide and seek, made 3D shapes, mud faces and an astronaut. We sorted objects from the forest using a venn diagram and much much more.

15/06/16 - Last week we celebrated the Queen's 90th birthday. We decorated crowns, painted flags, made cream cheese, cucumber and lettuce sandwiches, built palaces and castles, designed our own coins, made bunting, designed a Queen's soldier uniform and then we celebrated in the afternoon with parents, grandparents, governors and village residents.

13th May 2015 - Look out for our amazing entry for the Hadleigh show. It will be in the Education tent on Saturday 21st May. The children have been working hard on it for several weeks.

6th May 2016 - Last week we enjoyed a morning of gardening with our parents. We planted cress, runner beans, sunflowers and flowers. We are watering them everyday and looking forward to them growing.

28.04.16 - Squirrel class have been working extremely hard reading and writing tricky words. They practise everyday in school.

16/3/16 - Squirrels were amazing during their class assembly this morning. They were able to talk clearly and confidently to their parents and the rest of the school about all of the things they have been learning.

1/3/16 - Our Worship theme this half term is Compassion. We talked about having compassion for others by sharing. The children chopped up fruit to make a fruit salad and then shared it with each other.

12.2.16 - Squirrel class enjoyed a fun filled afternoon with their parents on Wednesday. They designed and made t shirts using fabric dye, fabric pens and sewing. Look at their amazing creations.

4.2.16 - The children really enjoying their weekly cooking session. Last week they made gingerbread people.

19.01.16 - The children pretended to be the three little pigs. They worked in teams of three to build a straw, stick, and brick house. Maybe the wolf will come and try to blow them down ...

14.1.16 - We had a great PE lesson yesterday. We practised moving into spaces, carrying mats safely and mirroring our partner.

Spring Term curriculum letter

16.12.15 - Squirrels enjoyed a very busy Christmas Celebration day last Thursday. They made decorations, had a visit from Father Christmas, ate a yummy Christmas lunch and then took part in the St Elizabeth Hospice Reindeer Run.

04.12.15 - Squirrels enjoyed welcoming their parents into our class for our very first discovery cafe. We hope you all enjoyed it.

20.11.15 - Whole school trip to Pipers Vale

10.11.15 - Last week the children found out all about Guy Fawkes and Bonfire night. They learnt how to stay safe near fireworks, created firework pictures using paint and glitter and made their own fireworks at home.

22.10.15 - It was lovely to see so many parents at our teddy bears picnic yesterday. The children had a lovely time and enjoyed sharing their learning with you. We hope you all enjoyed it too.

16.10.15 - We had a fantastic PE lesson! We practised going over, under and through things.

21.9.15. 

The children have been telling us all about their listening walks at home and Miss Carter has enjoyed looking through the listening homework with them. 

21.9.15 - We enjoyed our fine motor morning. Harry liked using the tweezers to sort the pom poms and Charlotte loved using the chalk and water, she said it was so much fun.

The children have been practising their fine motor skills to make their fingers nice and strong ready for writing.

What a busy few days for the new Squirrels! Playing, painting, drawing, building, eating, walking, sorting and reading. We hope they have all enjoyed their first full week.

22.07.15 - It has been a very busy end to the term in Squirrels. Forest schools day 2, learning how to cross the road safely, a visit from our very own 'Jolly Postman' and a walk around the village.

2nd July 2015 - Our learning this week had been focused on the story 'Aliens in Underpants Save the World'. We have played with Spaceghetti and made our very own pants using brusho and fabric pens.

25th June 2015 - Squirrels went on a space walk, found a space rocket and ate astronaut ice cream! Look at our amazing mod roc moons. Can you spot the aliens?

12th June 2015 - The children have enjoyed finding out about Space and astronauts over the last couple of weeks. This week they made rockets and lit them up. They had a fantastic time investigating electricity, light, motors, buzzers and switches!

21.05.15 - Thank you to everyone that came to our class assembly on Monday. We were very proud of all of the children for taking part. They were amazing!

22.4.15 - We read 'After the Storm' and other Percy the Park Keeper stories. We made our own bird feeders and put them around the school garden with help from the older children.

5.3.15 - World Book Day in Squirrels

26.2.15- This week we have been reading 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Look at all of the exciting activities we have enjoyed.

4.2.15 - We made our own version of The Three Little Pigs using stop animation.

30.1.15 - This week we have been reading 'Goldilocks and the three Bears'. The children have been busy making puppets, writing letters to baby bear, making porridge, counting how many spoonfuls of oats fill a bowl and making bowls and spoons from clay.

20.1.15 - In PE we have been learning pencil rolls and teddy bear rolls.

12.12.14 - Look at our amazing "Where is baby Jesus?" books. The children spent a long time making them. We read them to the children in Owls class.

18.11.14 - Our Bears/Toys theme has been continuing over the last two weeks. We have read "Kipper's Toybox", "This is the Bear" and "Where's my teddy?" We have used the stories as a focus for our learning and have enjoyed doing a wide variety of activities around them including repeating patterns, positional language, waterproof experiment, materials investigation, finding out how toys move and much much more.

16.10.14 - We have been reading 'We're going on a bear hunt' and making our own book.

10.10.14 - This week our learning has focused around 'The Magic Bed' by John Burningham. We have been thinking about different ways to travel in the sky. The children made edible aeroplanes.

25.9.14 - This week we have been reading "Oi! Get off our train" by John Burningham. We made sandwich trains!

18.09.14 Squirrels have been enjoying a range of play based activities focused around our 'travel' topic. They have all enjoyed sharing stories about their summer holiday adventures!

The new Squirrels have settled well into school and have been enjoying a variety of activities.
